Comfort vs Fashion
by rq on February 26, 2010
It is probably not very obvious from my blog, but I do enjoy fashion very much. I read fashion blogs, would pay an obscene (to Gerard) amount for clothes that I deem worthy of a splurge.
Recently, my mantra has been quality versus quantity. Aghast at my overflowing wardrobe (that is way too small for my Sis and I), I gave away tons of stuff upon realising how many clothes I had simply chucked into the deepest recesses and left them unworn.
Okay so back to being fashionable, or the lack thereof. Hurhur. I ogle at girls in fashion blogs who wear gorgeous high heels/boots and prance around (seemingly) effortlessly. I adore high heels, but clumsy me clomps like an elephant in them and always threatens to fall on unsuspecting victims. Hardly elegant.
Outfits that I adore in fashion blogs always seem impossible for me to attain. I always do not have the “right” top, the “right” bottoms, etc. Taking into consideration the sweltering heat, that I will always be running around or that I will be at Gerard’s house and he does not mind what I wear, I always feel so lazy to dress up and “be fashionable”. Plus Gerard always reminds me to “be comfortable”.
Bah.
I have to find the middle ground between fashion and comfort and stop berating myself for feeling like a slob. First things first, comfortable semi-formal shoes. My shoes of choice for my work are…Vans. I kid you not.
